Plagiarism Screening

Every manuscript is screened with industry-standard similarity tools before review, protecting originality and academic integrity from the very first check.

  • Turnitin
  • Zero tolerance
  • Original work only

INNOVATE is committed to ensuring that all published articles are original works that have not been previously published elsewhere or improperly copied from other sources.

Screening is part of the initial editorial check and is repeated when a manuscript raises concerns. The results inform editorial judgment but are always interpreted in context by an editor.

Screening process

Initial check

Each submission is compared against academic databases, web sources, and previously published literature.

Editorial review

Matches are assessed for legitimate overlap such as quotations, common methods, and reference lists.

Author follow-up

Where similarity is excessive, authors receive a clear explanation and, when appropriate, a chance to revise.

Possible outcomes

Manuscripts with plagiarism, excessive similarity, or unethical citation practices may be:

Rejected before review

Serious similarity or misconduct detected during initial screening.

Returned for revision

Correctable issues identified; authors must address similarity concerns before the manuscript proceeds.

Permanently rejected

Depending on the level of similarity or the nature of the unethical practices detected.

Author responsibility

Authors must ensure manuscripts are free from plagiarism and properly cite all sources according to academic publishing standards. Paraphrasing must change both wording and structure, not merely replace words.
