JCR Impact Factor 2023
Impact Factor (IF) often called journal impact factor (JIF) is a measure of the average number of times a paper is cited during a year. Clarivate Analytics releases JCR impact factor annually as part of Web of Science Journal Citation Reports®.
Science Citation Index Expanded® (SCIE) and Social Sciences Citation Index® (SSCI) listed journals only receive Impact Factor.

Good impact factor for a scientific journal
Impact Factor tells the importance of journals. The Journal Impact Factor is calculated by doing calculations of the number of times selected articles are cited within a particular year. Hence, the number of citations or articles coming out of that particular year of a journal, the higher the impact factor.

Impact Factor 2023 Release Date
At the end of June 2023, an impact factor report was released. This report has significant changes in the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index listed journals were only ranked. In this update, impact factors of the Arts and Humanities Citation Index, and the Emerging Sources Citation Index are also available. This added 9000 journals that IF did for the very first time.
Journal Impact Factor (JIF) was previously publishing ranks with three decimal places. In the Impact Factor 2023 report, it is now up to one decimal point. JIF Percentiles are also presented with 1 decimal place which was previously at 2 decimal places.
For instance, the Academy of Management Journal IF was 10.979 and the Percentile was 93.64. In the new 2023 update, the JIF is 10.5 and the JIF Percentile is 93.2. Financial Review is a journal that didn’t have any JIF ranking previously. Its rating stands at 3.2 in the Emerging Sources Citation Index.
Measuring a Journal Impact Factor

H-index: It was originally conceived as an author-level metric, but it is Aldo applied to higher-level aggregations of research publications, including journals.
CiteScore metrics: It helps in measuring journal citation impact. Data from Scopus® is used to ensure free, comprehensive, transparent, and current metrics calculations. Scopus® is the largest peer-reviewed database of abstracts and citations.
SJR: SCImago Journal Rank follows the concept of transfer of prestige among journals via their citation links.
JIF: Clarivate Analytics calculates Journal Impact Factor. It is the average of the sum of citations in a given year of publication divided by the citable publications.
SNIP: Source Normalized Impact per Paper is a sophisticated metric that accounts for the field-specific differences during the citation practices.
